Where they were looking for support

In late 2019, physical screening and weapon detection company Evolv Technology began scaling rapidly. Without any internal technical expertise, all IT tasks and support requests fell on the office manager, Michea McCaffey and a small, local managed service provider. But as this growth period kicked in, the strain of limited resources made it evident that this approach to IT couldn’t keep up. With only one point of contact at their MSP and all support requests having to be communicated through Michea, she herself was spending 10-15 hours a week managing these requests. Looking ahead to the next year, with plans to triple in size, Michea sought out an IT solution that could meet her team’s needs and take this work off her plate.

After signing with Electric, Michea was able to immediately pass off this work and gain an expert IT partner who could handle everything from SysAdmin requests to device management. In addition to giving her this time back, Electric created standardized processes for Evolv’s on/offboarding requests and took on managing their application licenses and device procurement. Once the pandemic hit, much like the rest of the world, Evolv had to transition its team to remote work. This was critical to Michea, given that most of their onboarding happened during the pandemic. “When we all went home, we didn’t miss a beat when it came to IT support & business systems accessibility, which was huge for us.”

Now, as the team begins yet another transition, this time to hybrid work, they’ve been able to lean on Electric to ensure it goes smoothly. When onboarding new employees during the pandemic, Electric configured all devices to work either from the office or remotely with a VPN. This made the return to the office easy, for Michea as the office manager, and for all the new employees. “Electric set everyone up during provisioning, so it doesn't matter whether you want to be in three days a week or not at all.
